Dhananjoy Chatterjee (14 August 1965 – 14 August 2004) was born in Kuludihi, West Bengal, India and worked as a security guard in Kolkata. He was the only person judicially executed in India in the twenty-first century so far for a crime not related to terrorism. The execution stirred up many public controversies and attracted attention from media. Dhananjoy was convicted on the basis of circumstantial evidences only.
